My answers to Canadians

 poor georgie's almanack:

This is my six-part answer to friends in Canada asking, "What is going on the USA?"

a. Thirty-percent of the populace is mad at the corporate press (NYTimes and Washington Post).

b. Another thirty-percent are mad at the corporate press (The Wall St. Journal and Fox).

c. A third thirty-percent are mad at the other two thirty-percents because the nation’s problems and policies are so complicated that the only way to express a reaction is to get angry.

d. Meanwhile all of that ninety-percent are mad at Congress, including the people who have bought a Congressman or two.

e. The other ten-percent have closed their ears and are too busy trying to either keep ahead of the bank, which wants to break them, or figuring out how to rob the bank.

f. However, there has been one solitary soul calling for all Americans to come together and work on our problems.  Since the beginning of the second  Bush Administration he has stationed himself in the back corner of a vast toilet area on the Brigham and Young campus.  Counter-intuitively, he claims that everyone is lying.  Alas, fact-checkers at the student newspaper have determined he is not telling the truth.
