Another whale of a tale.

poor georgie’s almanack:

As you know, whales are mammals.

An early version of the species left the water, lived on land, and decided to return to sea.

For centuries dead whales provided humans with oil for soap and for burning lamps.

Trump and Kim, Vultures at lunch

Lunch Break at the Nuclear Summit.

A fork in the road to peace?

poor georgie’s almanack:

Pulling out of the Iran deal probably tells North Korea’s Kim that any nuclear pact with the USA is an invitation to being had for lunch.

Of course, Trump has a talent for negotiating, and Kim has a talon for tearing his opponents to shreds.

HAPPY TAX DAY

poor georgie's almanack:

This makes as much sense as the US Tax Code.

THE WALRUS AND THE CARPENTER

poor georgie’s almanack:

This was drafted during the super-hot political summer of 2016, and relevant today.  I was fascinated about how history repeats itself.

The world in which we live was accurately portrayed in Lewis Carroll’s novels written for children about 150 years ago.  Like you, and like me, young Alice was in Wonderland after she fell down a rabbit hole.  Later she stepped through the Looking-Glass (a mirror) into an alternative world.

There, Alice met rotund twins named Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum who might be a parody of present day politicians.  They continually disagreed with each other, even after hugging.

The twins spoke in gibberish, which appeared to be absolutely clear to them.  In the midst of their conversation with Alice they recited a long poem.  It was about a Walrus and his improbable friend, a Carpenter, while they were walking on the beach.  The poem’s beginning, of course, began in the middle when …

"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--
Of cabbages--and kings--
And why the sea is boiling hot--
And whether pigs have wings.”

… and it ended after they had enticed some oysters to follow them and then the friends ate the the tasty mollusks …

"I weep for you," the Walrus said:
"I deeply sympathize."

"With sobs and tears he sorted out
Those of the largest size,
Holding his pocket-handkerchief
Before his streaming eyes.

"O Oysters," said the Carpenter,
"You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?'

"But answer came there none--
And this was scarcely odd, because
They'd eaten every one."

When Alice digested the entire poem she said:

“It seems very pretty but it’s rather hard to understand!”

"Somehow it seems to fill my head with ideas—only I don't exactly know what they are! However, somebody killed something: that's clear, at any rate.”

Alas, today I fear you and I are the oysters, and we are being eaten for lunch.

Sometimes sharing helps

poor georgie’s almanack:
Presidents’ Precedents.
Melania and Hilliary have similar marital problems.
Do you think they should talk?

poor georgie’s almanack:

I love Dollar Tree.

For me, it is “I Dollar Tree” … and I am having a Baal.

They dance to the belchin conga.

poor georgie’s almanack:

I was more afraid in the Cuban Missile Crisis than WWII.

Now some Russians, Americans & others feel they are under siege and want a horrific war.

Peaceniks who want to just live happily with their kids, are being eaten alive (see Syria).

Rulers dine on them peace meal, after which they satisfyingly belch.

It is not about them, it is about you.

poor georgie’s almanack:

Actually, land-grant colleges (look it up on Google), junior colleges and public education were what Made America Great.

To Make America Great Again, we need more support for public education, not less.

It’s not about the unions, it is about the kids and your future.

Now that makes sense

 poor georgie’s almanack:

If you can’t think of a something to say to someone just say “I forget the English word for it.”  That way people will think you are bilingual instead of an idiot.”

Costco keeps its stuff together

poor georgie’s almanack:

Went to Costco today, commingling with a cross-cultural cacophony of citizens from here, there and everywhere.

Clearly Costco knows how to keep its stuff together.

Eating well

poor georgie’s almanack:
About 150 years ago governments, in effect, paid farmers to farm.

The process is different but, today the same holds true. Many farmers are subsidized.

That’s why, especially in the USA, food is relatively cheap and because of other subsidies, so is health.  And that’s the the biggest part of the truth.
